RECREATION

Sherwood Parks & Rec Department preserves over a dozen parks and spaces for you and your family to recreate and enjoy.  Our parks enhance the desirability of our area as well as contribute to the safety and health of our residents. We have a dog park, community garden, miles and miles of trails, several water features at different parks around town, a brand new skate park and creative play structures for all ages.  Sherwood celebrates community with several festivals throughout the year, most notably the Sherwood Cruisin in June and our annual Robin Hood Festival in July, plus movies and concerts in the park in the summer months. The Sherwood Center for the Arts serves as the centerpiece of the Sherwood Arts & Culture community – a hub for cultural activity, and a resource for local artists, arts organizations and arts patrons to expand the Sherwood cultural experience. The Center also serves as an event center and gathering space for the residents of Sherwood and the surrounding community.  Most recently, one of Sherwood’s founding families, the Langer family, has opened a 54,000 square foot entertainment center featuring a 3-story rock climbing wall and accompanying ropes course that will span about half of the interior space, a 22 lane bowling alley, laser tag, arcade games, sports bar and full restaurant. Sherwood believes that providing a variety of recreation options that enable people of all ages to gather and spend quality time together is an investment in the future of our community.

The Sherwood School District is made up of 7 public schools and 1 charter school.  The district is highly rated with just over 5300 students in PK, K-12, a student teacher ratio of 22:1 and a 97% on-time graduation rate.  Our schools boast countless extracurricular groups and activities from garden clubs to state champion sports teams, dance, band, cheer, chess, and more.  The Sherwood School District endeavors foster a life-long love of learning in our students, inspiring them to excel academically and reach their full potential.
